There is no doubt that honey and its medicinal value were known as far back as biblical times, as it is mentioned in a number of ancient records. Honey is the best form of carbohydrate and is easily absorbed by the body. What is more, experience has shown that honey increases the medicinal effect of natural remedies that are good for the respiratory organs. If you want to take advantage of this fact, simply add the indicated number of drops of a given remedy to a teaspoon of honey or to warm water sweetened with honey. Sipping this honey water together with the remedies will enhance their effect; for example, in cases of catarrh or disorders of the bronchial tubes or lungs, the prescribed medicines will have a much faster and stronger effect if taken with honey. It is for this reason that the pine bud syrup Santasapina contains honey.

There are certain instances, usually in cases of chronic ailments, where it is advantageous to apply clay and cabbage poultices alternately. Since we know that clay disperses and cabbage draws together, the alternating actions will produce effects similar to those of a counter-irritation. This is often desirable in chronic rheumatic and arthritic conditions.
Taken internally, clay has a remarkable effect on diarrhoea and inflammation of the intestinal mucosa. Whatever medication is taken for these problems, it should be added to clay water.
Everyone could profit physically from an intestinal cleansing twice a year and the best clay to use for this purpose is the white, sand-free kind, although yellow clay is suitable too. Such a course of treatment should last a week at a time.

There are a number of things you can do to combat ‘spring fever’ successfully. First of all, practise more physical and breathing exercises. Even vigorous walking or hiking^ will help you to exhale a substantial amount of accumulated wastes^ ê may make you sweat a little, and that is good because it stimulates the skin and helps it to exude toxins. Only be careful not to catch a cold; as soon as you arrive home, change your damp underwear.
You can do even better than that by sweating properly in a steam bath, either taking a sweat bath at home or a sauna. This will make the skin eliminate toxins faster than anything else. But beware of overdoing it; be reasonable and watch your heart. This treatment can be made easier and safer if you take a natural heart tonic.
At any rate, you can see that there are some wonderful possibilities for assisting the body to eliminate wastes and toxins by excreting them through the skin as much as possible. So do not forget to treat your body to this kind of beneficial ‘spring-cleaning’.

Let me describe the merits of this wonderful homoeopathic remedy, one that is not recognised by the orthodox section of the medical profession, and you will no doubt become quite enthusiastic about it. First, however, do not turn your nose up when I tell you that Sepia is obtained from cuttlefish ‘ink’. If you have ever visited the Mediterranean or other southern seas you must have come across those curious creatures with their tentacles and know that they eject a dark brown ink-like fluid. In former times painters used this ink from the cuttlefish but today the chemical industry produces a dye known as sepia.
Did you know that Sepia is one of the best medicines for women’s problems? Frail women who tire easily after only a short walk or who perspire excessively, causing them to smell unpleasant and feel listless, have their best friend in Sepia, a remedy that benefits the whole body. In the United States they call it the washerwoman’s medicine. It helps the overworked, the tired, the sad, and those who complain of backaches.
Chronic skin eruptions that itch and burn, little blisters around the joints, the desire to sleep during the daytime and insomnia during the night, vertigo, a poor memory and similar conditions can all be alleviated and cured if Sepia is taken for a certain period of time.
The potency required depends upon the sensitivity of the person; robust people can use a lower potency (4x), while those with a more delicate constitution may require higher potencies (6x-12x) for the best results.

It was in the 1950s when I met Black Eagle, the chief of the Sioux Indians. Besides his tribal tongue, he spoke very good English, so we were able to talk about our mutual appreciation and love of plants, their curative powers and practical uses for various ailments and emergencies. I found even his philosophy of life to be very similar to my own. He too looked at nature as a creation of the great Artist of the Universe.
We both shared the same views regarding man’s responsibility towards nature, which involved not only thinking of what we can get out of it but rather doing all we can to protect and preserve it. Because of the many things we had in common, a close bond of friendship developed between us and one day he embraced me affectionately and professed his feelings of brotherly love towards me. It was a most interesting experience, not least because of the different tribal customs he introduced me to. Being over ninety years old at the time, he was able to relate many experiences he had had with the white man. More than once I had to interrupt, expressing my deepest sympathy and sadness at all the injury and suffering the people of my own skin colour had inflicted upon him and his people.
